About the Author
John Englehart Jr. is a Human Resources leader, coach, trainer, and Christian author whose work explores humanity at work, faith in the everyday, and the importance of leading well in the places that matter most. With more than fifteen years of HR experience across federal service, higher education, local government, and private industry, John is passionate about helping people lead with dignity, empathy, courage, and purpose.
John began his career with the U.S. Postal Service as an 18-year-old mail carrier and later started his Human Resources career during his time there. Those early years shaped his belief that every person, no matter their title or role, deserves to be seen, valued, and encouraged. He is the creator of the award-winning EXCELL coaching model, which received the 2022 CUPA-HR National Innovation Award, and a graduate of Leadership Maryland’s Class of 2024.
John is the author of PunkRocker HR and The Sunday Scaries, books that reflect his heart for human-centered leadership, following Jesus in everyday work, and helping people stay steady in the real places where life happens. He has served as guest speaker at conferences and facilitated leadership training workshops. John lives on the Eastern Shore of Maryland with his wife and children, where he continues to write, coach, and champion a more human and faithful way of leading, working, and living.
Humanity at Work. Faith in the Everyday. Legacy at Home.
I write for people who want to lead with dignity, follow Jesus in real life, and build something meaningful in the places God has placed them: at work, at home, and everywhere in between.
But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
MATTHEW 6:33 NIV
